What is TextMate?
TextMate is just the best freakin’ text editor available for OS X. It’s an app put out by Macromates and it makes the lives of programmers/developers much much simpler. It is used widely by web developers but also has built in bundles for C, Java, Blogging, and then some.
TextMate brings Apple’s approach to operating systems into the world of text editors. By bridging UNIX underpinnings and GUI, TextMate cherry-picks the best of both worlds to the benefit of expert scripters and novice users alike.
One of the key features of TextMate is the ability to create bundles and plugins on your own. While these tasks may sound daunting to some, TextMate makes this fairly simple. The best part is that out of the box, TextMate will probably do almost anything you’ll need anyways.
