10 Cool TextMate Tips

I stumbled across a blog entry by designer Dominic Hay where he broke down 10 of his favotite TextMate tips. I wanted to share that link a few weeks back but I made a mistake in my scheduled posting settings. I just realized this today so it’s getting published a little late. Dominic was kind enough to link over to us in the meantime so I just had to double check on this entry. Regardless, go check out his post!

TextMate - the ultimate text editor ever made. This could be the only reason not to use any other OS than OS X for developers.

Textmate = The win. I’d pay that price yearly for it if that’s what it cost. It beats Coda and Espresso hands down for dev work

TextMate 2 FAQ

I wasnted to post this link just in case there are some TextMate users out there who are wondering about the next version of this amazing application. TextMateTips.com is Migrating

I’m hard at work on porting over this site from WordPress to ExpressEngine Core. I have nothing against WordPress as a publishing system but after using ExpressionEngine for about 6 months now I clearly see how this site would benefit from being powered by it. You won’t see much along the lines of membership until the new site launches. It will also launch with a slightly different look but nothing drastic will change visually. Afterall, I’m a code monkey, not a designer!

Thanks for the visits and I’ll keep everyone updated on the progress.

Quick Tip: Wrap Selection in Tag

I have a quick tip for today that I probably use every time TextMate is open. It has two function and is highly useful. Think about how many times you write something that needs to be wrapped in a tag. Probably very often I would guess. There’s a handy shortcut to make your life easier and it’s simply ⌃⇧W (Ctrl + Shift + W). This will wrap your selection in a list element tag by default but you can type whatever tag you need (along with the parameters). I use this on numerous links, paragraphs, spans, etc.
